OnTalk :: Catch Up with @Luke_Bingham

Earlier this week we posted a little something from British singer/songwriter Luke Bingham on StreetsOnDemand. We loved it so much that we thought why not catch up with the man himself and ask him a few questions? So we sent Cheyenne to have a chat with him…

For those that don’t know who you are and what you do yet, could you tell us a bit about yourself?

Well, my name’s Luke Bingham and I’m a R’n’B singer/song writer singed to Universal. You may have seen my video on TV it’s called Nothing To Lose or you may (well a lot of people) know me from touring with Trey Songz…that’s about it really!

Was music always something that you aspired to do?

Yeah it was from a young age. My father was a musician and he used to bring back his tapes and stuff for me to listen to. When I was growing up at about eleven I realised that I could sing but I didn’t persue it until I turned sixteen when I went to college. That’s when I got involved in music more and started to take it seriously both in and out of college.

You appeared on X-factor a couple years back and got quite far so well done…

Yeah, I got to Simon’s group it was alright, it was an experience.

Have you ever watched the show since then or better yet have you had time to watch it?

I watched one the other day actually at my mate’s house. It’s alright, I see the way that they mould somebody that’s original into something that’s not original. When you’re a solo artist like I am and do what I’m doing it gives you the chance to become what you want to be I become Luke Bingham and be who I want to be. When you go on x-factor they say you can sing and do this and that and change almost everything about you. It’s not really something that I pay too much attention to or rate too highly.

You’ve gained a lot of recognition over the past year or so performing at The Wireless Festival and Radio 1’s big Weekend but the biggest trip so far has to be going to L.A with BBC Introducing. How was the experience for you?

That was crazy! It’s first time I’ve ever been to America. To go with someone like Radio 1/BBC Introducing that have such a strong name for the U.K, have a show on Sunset Boulevard and to see your name on a flyer and stuff like that…it was crazy. It was the first time I’ve ever done a p.a of seven tracks. It was a wicked experience and I got to meet some wicked people.

Apart from the release of your teaser track Nothing To lose, what else is on the cards for you at the moment?

We released the nothing to lose video as a promo video for people to get to know who I am. We didn’t want a period where there was nothing out there for people to see. I’ve got my album ready and my 1st 2nd and third singles ready so we’re just picking what track that we’re going to go ahead with. We’re going to shoot the video in a few weeks and then push the button! You’ll be seeing a lot of me.

What can we expect from Luke Bingham for the rest of the year?

Well, you can expect a lot of shows, a single and a new video. There’s going to be a lot actually. This is the period where I’m going to be doing a lot of promo. I’m going to be pushing a lot out, be on a lot of blogs like StreetsOnDemand and stuff like that and much more you can check out my twitter to see where I’m gonna be next.

Lastly, where can we find out more about you and your music?

You can find me on my website www.lukebingham.co.uk and also my Facebook www.facebook.com/lukebingham.co.uk.

Thanks for taking the time out to talk to StreetsOnDemand and we wish you all the best for the future.

Thank you!
